The unique flavour of Southern Comfort comes from the combination of its base of bourbon whiskey with fruit and spice flavors such as peach, orange, vanilla, and cinnamon. It has a smooth and sweet taste, making it a popular choice for cocktails such as the classic Southern Comfort and Coke or the Alabama Slammer.
Despite its name, Southern Comfort is not technically a whiskey, as it has less than 51% whiskey in its blend. Instead, it is classified as a whiskey liqueur due to its added flavorings and lower alcohol content (30% ABV).
