Braulio Amaro is a traditional Italian bitter liqueur, originating from the Lombardy region in northern Italy. It is made with a secret blend of more than 20 herbs, roots, and barks, including gentian, juniper, wormwood, and yarrow. The recipe has been kept secret since it was created in 1875 by Francesco Peloni, a pharmacist from the town of Bormio.
Braulio Amaro has a complex and intense flavor profile, with a bittersweet taste that is both herbal and woody. It is typically enjoyed as a digestif, either neat or on the rocks, and is also a popular ingredient in cocktails. The amaro is known for its versatility in cocktails and is often used in Negronis or other bitter cocktails to add depth and complexity.
