Auchentoshan Dark Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a distinctive offering from Auchentoshan distillery, known for their triple-distilled Lowland single malts. This particular expression introduces a new level of depth and complexity to the distillery's portfolio, having been matured in a trio of wood types.
Made from the finest malted barley, the spirit is distilled in the traditional copper pot stills before being laid down to mature in American bourbon, Spanish Oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This unique combination of cask types imparts a multifaceted character to the whisky.
The nose opens with notes of toffee, sherry-soaked fruit, and a touch of cinnamon. The palate is layered with rich dark chocolate, dried fruits, spices, and an underlying note of nuttiness from the oak. The finish is long with the warmth of toasted oak and a hint of spice lingering.
